Love Goodly Aug/Sept 2018 Unboxing & Review

This is a little bit (okay, a lotta bit!) late, but better late than never, right? Today I’m sharing my most recent Love Goodly box. Love Goodly is a bi-monthly cruelty free & vegan beauty subscription box. The box is $34.95 bi-monthly and you get over $80+ worth of products in each box. They also have an online store where you can purchase brands that have been in previous boxes. I’ve been subscribed to Love Goodly for a while now and I like that you can skip your next box if you wish, which I’ve had to do a couple of times. You can read my previous unboxings here!

Like most subscription boxes, you get a card telling you what’s inside and it’s value. This box had $88+ value and I got 5 full sized items.

Everything Branded – Stainless Straw – $3.50

First up is this awesome stainless straw! I love that this was something we got in our box because I’ve been wanting to purchase one for daily use.

Axiology Natural Lipstick – The Goodness – $30

Next up is a lipstick from Axiology in the shade the Goodness. First of all, I love the packaging. The graphic designer in me gets so happy when I see cute packaging for products.

The lipstick comes in a pretty gold bullet case and I think it’s gorgeous.

The shade is a pretty nude with some shimmer. It’s definitely not a color that I would wear everyday, but it is a stunning color. I think I’ll be wearing it on Thanksgiving!

Balanced Guru – Organic Balanced Scalp Treatment – $23

 

Here we have a scalp treatment, which is something I’ve never seen or heard of before. This claims to alleviate the need for dry shampoo since it’s supposed to balance the oils that are already on our scalp (I’m a bit skeptical).

I like the bottle that it comes in and it has a dropper so it would make it easier to apply to your scalp. I have yet to try this out, but I’m curious about it since I get oily pretty quickly sometimes.

Doctor Rogers – Restore Healing Balm – $30

This is a petroleum free balm that can help with many skin ailments, like chapped lips, dry/cracked skin, to cover cuts/scrapes and more. It’s safe for sensitive and injured skin and I must say, this stuff is a lifesaver.

I like the packaging a lot, too. It’s in a metal tube and again, reminds me of the olden days. I really like to use this stuff on my cuticles – my hands get super dry because I work with paper and boxes all day at work. It also works wonders on the lips too!

Hippeas – Vegan White Cheddar Snack – $2

Last, but not least is a bag of Hippeas! I’ve never heard of this brand before but I was super stoked to try them out. I love chickpeas and I love things in puff form, so this is a win win for me. White cheddar flavor is also a win in my book! I like the price of these, I think they’re affordable and they’re so tasty. I definitely want to try out some of their other flavors!

Signs That You May Be Uninterested In Your College Degree

If you are doing a degree course right now then you will understand how much it can benefit your career. After all, you can prove that you have more training and knowledge than your competition and you can also feel much more confident when applying for certain positions as well. You have to remember however that just because a course benefits your career, doesn’t mean that it is the right one for you and the sooner you understand this, the better.

Not Showing up to Lectures

If you skip lectures or if you just turn up without actually taking anything in then this is a clear sign that you are enrolled in the wrong course. At times you might feel as though you just can’t register the words that are coming out of your lecturer’s mouth and at other times, you may feel as though it just doesn’t excite you. Sure, now and again you will get a bad teacher but if you know that every single class that you go to feels boring or uninteresting then this is a big red flag. I definitely have skipped a few classes and took a nap instead because I wasn’t interested in what was being taught – I really don’t recommend doing this because it can really affect your grade!

Awful Grades

There are a couple of reasons why you might get bad grades from your university lecturer. You may feel stressed and this could be having an impact on your grades and you may even feel as though you don’t get on with the professor as well. If you don’t feel as though any of these things are to blame then there is a high chance that something else is wrong and if you are not careful it could have a long-lasting impact on your education.

Zero Passion

If you know that you don’t have a spark after university then this could also indicate a problem. Your first year can be very turbulent to say the least but at the end of the day, you should always feel excitement about finishing up your course and finally getting that degree. It’s so important that you have something that you feel passionate about because this will keep you motivated during the hardest of times. If this is the case then consider taking a course from the University of Redlands Online to find out if they have anything that interests you.

Lack of Studying

Studying can be hard and you may even feel as though at times, you just don’t have the energy for it. This is completely normal but if you can’t study at all or if every single time you look at a textbook, your mind goes blank then you may not be on the right course. It may be that you are just not adapted to that type of learning, the topic may be too advanced for you or deep down, it just may not be a good option for you in general. The only way for you to find out if this is the case or not would be for you to try and look at the course and your own interests, or even take another course side by side to find out if it feels better. I like to use Quizlet to make flashcards when I know a big test is coming up. I also know that people don’t recommend to cram all of your studying the night before or over a long period of time, but for some reason that helped me do better on tests. I would go through the flashcards over and over again until I felt confident with the terms. Then I would start over and do this a couple of times, typically the night before the test (and somehow it worked!) 

Even if you hate the subject, studying and attending class is important, especially if you can’t drop the class. Try your best to pass the class and you’ll be proud of yourself and you won’t have to retake it or make up those lost credits!

Supporting Yourself Through College

Getting into college is a major achievement, however, many people will struggle to pay for it whilst they’re there. In addition to the cost of tuition, there are also living costs to consider, which can make college a difficult time financially for many. Fortunately, there are ways that you can support yourself through college to make sure you don’t have to sacrifice your degree for financial reasons.

Choose a college that’s closer to home

If living costs seem like they’re going to be unmanageable during your time at college, then one of the options you have is to live at home while you study. This will save you a lot of money and means you won’t have to move far away from your family to go to college. While you might be concerned about missing out on dorm life, it’s easier than you think to make going to college while living at home work.

Consider distance learning

There are different ways to earn your degree, and you might find that distance learning is more appealing if you need to financially support yourself while you learn. Distance learning can be particularly beneficial for completing further education, such as pursuing a masters degree after getting your undergrad. Some options include online master degrees in social work, or psychology, and you can take the time to study around work. Distance learning enables you to enjoy a more flexible education, which might be a better fit for your financial circumstances.

Work while you learn

Having a job whilst at college is more common than you think. Many students find it necessary to pick up some part-time work to help cover tuition or living costs. Whether you pick up an on-campus job or you work online doing something creative, there are different options available to you to help you support yourself. Make sure to balance studying, work and your social life to ensure you have a well-rounded college experience.

Look for scholarships

Scholarships can be a great way to help make it through college, and unlike student loans, they don’t need to be paid back. The Department of Education has some excellent guidance for finding and applying for scholarships, and you can also research local initiatives that you might qualify for. While a scholarship can provide your finances a boost, it’s worth bearing in mind that it might not cover your full college funding.

College can be a good opportunity to develop better financial awareness and start learning more about the value of money. By learning to take care of your financial health, you can set yourself up for a positive future and appreciate the value of working hard for the things you want in life. Anything is possible if you’re willing to succeed, so make sure you explore all of the ways you can support yourself through college.
