When you graduate college, your instinct might be to immediately step into a proper adult job. You have loans you need to start paying off, and everyone says you need to start working right away. But what if you’re not ready to go into the real world just yet? Many people choose to travel before they start college, but the year after you graduate is a great time to do it too. You can expand your worldview and gain some new experiences. Some people are still unsure of what to do with their degree when they graduate, and traveling can help them decide. If you’re thinking of going traveling, here’s why Thailand should be one of your top choices.
Gain Valuable Work Experience
Thailand is a great place to build some new skills and experience some things you can add to your resume. One of the best ways to do this is to volunteer in Thailand. Rather than having a paying job, you can gain some valuable experiences by volunteering your time. If you decide to find a volunteer opportunity, you can find a company that will provide you with accommodation and other necessities. If you want to gain experience working with children, there are lots of opportunities for you. Thailand also has plenty of wildlife and landscapes that need protecting, so conservation work is available too.
Get the Partying Out of Your System
One of the reasons many people choose Thailand as a gap year location is that it’s great for partying. If you visit the right places, you can spend your time in bars and clubs, or attend outdoor raves. You might have spent your college days partying, but maybe you’re not done just yet. If you’ve still got plenty of party spirit left in you but you want to get it out before you start your first postgraduate job, Thailand is the ideal place to go. Just remember to stay safe while you’re there.
Gain a New Perspective
By the time you graduate college, it feels like you’re meant to have everything together. There’s a lot of pressure to decide what you’re going to do with your life. But the reality is that a lot of people are still unsure about what they want to do. If you need to buy yourself some time, Thailand is the ideal destination to think about what you want out of life. Spending some time with a local community or just relaxing on a beach can allow you to look at life differently.
Enjoy the Relaxed Lifestyle
Parts of Thailand, such as Bangkok, can be incredibly busy and bustling. But other places, including many of the smaller islands, allow you to relax. Life can be very fast-paced in the US, and perhaps you’re not ready to jump into that just yet. If you would rather take things at a slower pace, Thailand can offer you somewhere to relax. Whether you’re lying on a beach or taking a hike through a jungle, you’ll have time to think about what you’re doing with your life.
If you don’t want to rush into work straight after college, some time in Thailand could be just what you need.
I hope you enjoyed the post!
