It’s hard to save money, even if you try. Sometimes things just pop up and all of the money in your savings account is gone. Or, maybe you just have a spending/hoarding problem like I do.
I thought I’d go through my beauty collection (this is just makeup, I may do a hair care/body care post if you lovelies seem interested) and share with you what I have and why I don’t need to buy anything else to put into my collection. (I’m trying to hold back my tears right now…I love makeup.)
Here are my makeup removing products! I use coconut oil, a micellar water and makeup wipes. I’ve had this jar of coconut oil for quite a while now and still have a lot of it. I use it to remove stubborn eye makeup (I have used it on my face as well), as a shaving cream alternative (if I ran out) and as a moisturizer. It’s a multi purpose item that I can’t live without. It’s inexpensive and doesn’t get used too quickly, so that’s why I don’t need another makeup removing product. Next is the Cactus Micellar Water from Pacifica. I really like this stuff to remove my foundation then follow up with a cleanser to deep clean the skin. It’s easy, provides a great clean, tones the skin and leaves you feeling refreshed (definitely do not use this on your eyes though). While I do love the micellar water so much, I’m not sure if I’ll be repurchasing it since it’s not a necessity because I do have other options to clean my face (like my Clarisonic, cleansers and coconut oil). I guess I’m also trying to cut down on the products that I have. And lastly, makeup removing wipes. I like these a lot for when I’m doing swatches and removing my eye makeup, I do not like using these all over my face though since they leave a greasy feel. I do have two packs unopened, so that’s another reason why I don’t need another makeup removing product at the moment.
Here are my face products, including foundations, primers and concealers. I have two primers at the moment, both from Too Faced. I have a sample of the Primed and Poreless, but I’m not a huge fan of it so it usually stays in my drawer. The Hangover primer on the other hand is my go to, but it is expensive, but so so worth it. I really only use it if I know I’ll be out all day to help it last longer for me! I don’t really wear foundation that often (so I’m not sure why I have two different ones…actually make that three, I forgot to add in my bareminerals). Lately, I’ve just been busy with work and on my days off I usually just hang around the house so I haven’t had much use for these foundations this summer (which is why I don’t need another, I need to stop eyeballing the Born This Way foundation from Too Faced ASAP!) I also have a white foundation to use as a mixer to make a shade light enough for my complexion. I have three skin tone concealers and one color corrector. I like the NYX one the most, since it’s light enough for my skin and gives a natural look. I feel like tarte’s oxidizes, so I don’t use it too often. The itCosmetics one was a sample that my sister passed on to me since it was too light for her – I haven’t tried it (yet again, another reason why I don’t need anything else!) The color corrector is from L.A. Girls and works well, I just don’t use it too often so I don’t need to buy a color correcting palette like I want to. I have one setting spray at the moment (hasn’t been opened) so I’m good in that department too. Mental note: Raeanne…no more face products.
Alright, here’s my mascara collection (it was larger, but I did purge my makeup when moving back home from school). I have THREE Better Than Sex mascaras…THREE. Why do I need three!? Ugh. I first tried the BTS mascara as a sample and really liked it, so my sister decided to buy me another sample for Christmas – I haven’t touched the one she got me yet. I bought the waterproof version just to see if it would hold my curl better (it does) but I really don’t know why else I bought it, since I already have two that have barely been touched…I have no logic people! I have a mascara from Flower (this is like their 3-in-1, you can turn the dial and the wand moves/twists). I’m not a huge fan of this mascara since it’s so flakey, so I’m not even sure why I still have it. *sigh*. I have one from wet n wild that I use on lazy days/no makeup days. I’m also not a huge fan of this mascara either, but I do like the small wand for the lower lashes. I might end up tossing the Flower and the wet n wild mascaras since there is no point in keeping them. Then lastly, tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara sample. I got this in my skin squad discovery kit and I really like it. It gives a different effect than the BTS and that’s why I will be keeping it in my collection (plus, it’s relatively new to me too).
Here are my eyeliners – which is another thing that I don’t wear all too often. I have three liquid black liners, two are fine line ones that dry matte and another has a vinyl finish which I’m not a fan of. I think I’ll keep the two fine liners and get rid of the Milani one that I don’t really like! I have one black pencil liner from Marc Jacobs that I got as a free gift for my birthday from Sephora, I think I’m just going to keep it to have incase I want to wear it. I have the NYX Wonder Pencil which is a nude liner, not sure why I have this because I don’t use it either. I also used it on my lips, so I don’t want to use it on my eyes. Might as well go in the trash! I have a dark blue pencil liner from Sumita that I got in a past glambag, haven’t used it but it’s going to stay in my collection just in case. I have two liquid liners from wet n wild, a bright blueish-purple and a dark blue liner. I like the bright blue and I have yet to experiment with the dark blue one – I will be keeping them since I don’t have anything else like them. The last two liners are from the Balm and Colourpop – they’re pretty similar in color but I like the formula from Colourpop way more. I’ll be keeping both of them. But here’s why I don’t need another eyeliner! They aren’t on my “top shelf” for everyday makeup.
Lipsticks galore. As you can tell, I really like nude lip colors…infact I have way too many that look similar! I definitely will not be getting rid of any of my lipcolors, while I have a lot, I love them all. So I have quite a large collection from Colourpop, 3 ultra matte, 5 ultra satin, and 6 lippie stix. I love them (besides the matte ones), even though I have some colors that look similar. I have 4 soft matte lip creams from NYX and I like these, so I’m keeping them. I have two butter glosses in the same shade from NYX, not sure why I have two but I don’t really wear glosses much anymore. I’ll still keep them though just in case. I have one NYX liquid suede which I like and I don’t have a color *too* similar to it, since it shows up more burgundy/brown on me. I have two samples of Too Faced melted lipsticks – love them so they’re staying. In the white and pink box is a lip shimmer from My Sister (every purchase helps fight sex trafficking!) that I will be keeping since I don’t have anything else like it. I have two wet n wild lipsticks that I will be keeping cause I like them. I have 5 samples of some lip colors from different brands – keeping them and I hopefully will be able to use them up. A lip gloss from Ecco Bella in Peace is also staying with me, I want to try it out and see if it’ll be similar to a metallic lip – I’ll keep you updated. Lastly, a chubby lipstick from Profusion cosmetics that I will be keeping also because it’s the perfect everyday nude. BUT, in conclusion – I do not need another lipstick! I definitely need to stop buying shades that I already have ones similar to and I really need to start wearing lipsticks more often.
Here are all of my single eyeshadows. All of the ones on top were from glambags or other subscription services. I’m trying to use those ones up ASAP since they’ve just been collecting dust. I might challenge myself to use one of them for however long it takes to use it up. The Colourpop ones are new to me and are staying in my collection, but I really don’t need to buy myself another eyeshadow palette because I definitely have enough to last me a while.
Here are my eyeshadow palettes! As you can see, I like nude colors again. I really do not need another eyeshadow since the collection I have between palettes + singles is large enough. I have a lot of similar colors so I will do my best to hit pan on some of them.
Yikes, I really didn’t realize how much makeup I had until planning this post. It’s actually shocking thinking about how much money I’ve spent on makeup (and I really don’t want to take a calculator to add it up).
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed my post and maybe learned something (like the fact that you don’t need 20 different nude lip colors in 5 different finishes). You also don’t need anymore neutral eye palettes – so don’t fall for the hype anymore!
Thanks so much for reading (as always) <3
Xoxo, Rae

Yes, I am right there with you. I really need to use up a ton of product before buying more to add, even though I can’t resist things that I see when I’m out and about, but maybe I’ll spread all my stuff out and take pics like you have to remind myself! Great post! XO -Kim

I honestly didn’t even realize how much stuff I had! It’s actually kind of sad so, since it a lot of it is similar in color. I watched some “Anti-Haul” videos and it really changed my mind about following the hype of things and just spending money on it anyways. I’m definitely going to try to use up my stash.

I love nude liquid lipsticks too! It’s soooo easy to collect too many makeup items 🙁
