I’m so happy that I was able to get my hands on the amazing Swamp Queen Palette that Bunny (aka grav3yardgirl) collaborated with tarte on! I’m super stoked about it because Bunny has been one of my favorite YouTubers for a while and I feel like she has remained genuine throughout her YouTube career. It’s absolutely crazy seeing how far she’s come and how much her channel is grown, so I obviously had to support her!
This palette, along with the two lip paints she created are limited edition – another reason why I had to snag it up.
This palette comes inside this cool wood textured box (obviously it’s cardboard, but it looks like it’s real wood!) It has the ever famous gator with it’s wings, which is one of the things I love about it because I feel like Bunny really took the time to make an awesome palette for her fans and I guess the gator with wings is kind of the swamp fams’ mascot. You also get a little info sheet with two different eye looks that are on Bunny’s eyes, I like when palettes do this because I feel like sometimes I don’t know how to use all the colors in the palette to create a look, does anyone else feel the same?
On the back of the box it has some info about Bunny and then all of the ingredients in the products!
Here’s what the palette looks like, it’s just like the outer portion of the box. It has a nice gold finish in the middle of the palette (if that makes any sense?) so it looks a little bit more “high-end”. The palette comes with a brush too, which I thought was cool because you honestly can’t have enough makeup brushes.
You get 9 shadows + 3 face products (& a brush) for $45, which I honestly think is a good price for a limited edition palette. tarte’s products are worth the money too (at least for me). I also think that the colors in the palette are unique and I don’t own anything like them, which is another reason that pushed me to get the palette.
Here are some swatches in natural light (sorry that the bronzer + blush are a little out of focus – I have poor camera skills lately). So, on the top of my wrist I swatched the three face products (bronzer, blush and highlight). The bronzer (sweet tea) is definitely too dark for my skin and is glittery but I’m sure I could figure out some way to use it. The blush (does this thing really work?) is a bright pink that also had gold glitter in it too. I’m always afraid of blush but I think I will try it out and see how I like it. And lastly, the highlight (gator wings) is on the bottom and holy cow – I love it. It is the *slightest* bit chunky, but is easy to blend out. It is a gold based highlight with some gold glitter in it. I really like it + it’s super pigmented.
The shadows are on the lower portion of my arm and I swatched them in the order of the palette, if you were looking at the palette top – bottom (so the ones closest to the face swatches are on the top of the palette!) There is a nice mix of shadows in the palette and I feel like they all go well together, so you could use the palette to create a whole eye look. There are 3 matte shadows and the rest are shimmery. I pretty much like all of the eyeshadow shades in the palette, so I really can’t pick a favorite.
I would love love love to try out the lip paints that she created but I’m only interested in getting Texas Toast (red lipstick doesn’t look good on me), but then I realized that I have a color similar to Texas Toast. I think I might wait to see if it’ll hit stores and if I can try it/see it in person before purchasing, since it is a little bit expensive for me.
Check out the video I did of me using the palette for the first time!
