Losing weight in the most healthy possible way is something I’d always usually recommend, which tends to mean gradually over a long period of time. It takes hard work, commitment and patience to lose the weight and keep it off – any person who has battled with their weight or got the body they dreamed of will tell you this.
But I also understand that there are sometimes occasions when time is not on your side. It’s a luxury to be able to do it in your own time and at your own pace, but sometimes invitations and social events dictate and you suddenly find yourself needing to lose those extra pounds – and quickly!
Perhaps you’ve put a few extra unwanted pounds on and now you don’t fit into the totally gorgeous dress you were going to wear to your work’s christmas party. Or maybe you’ve just discovered that you no longer fit into the bridesmaids dress you had fitted six months ago and your best friend is going to crucify you if you make one tiny change to her perfect big day.
Either way, here are the ways in which you can shift that weight to ensure that you can squeeze into whatever you need to, but remember that in future, giving yourself longer is always the best option as it allows your body time to adapt in a more healthy, steady way.
Cut back on eating out
Or stop it all together. It’s well known that the calories packed into meals at restaurants are usually substantially more than the amount you’d eat at home if you were to cook for yourself. If you’re feeling lazy, definitely try out meal planning so everything is ready for you to prepare that night and you won’t be searching your kitchen for something to eat or grabbing the phone for Grubhub. Protein (which plants have) filled meals will keep you fuller, for longer – so you won’t need to snack as often!
This is one of the quickest and best ways of losing weight, for numerous reasons. Firstly, by sipping on super cold water, you’re making your metabolism work overtime which therefore burns calories. It beats the bloat which means it gives the appearance that you’ve lost weight and most importantly, it actually fills you up and stops you from overindulging on food. If you want to eat less at mealtimes, down a pint of water half hour before you’re due to eat. Tip – Drink a glass or two of water when you first wake up instead of coffee, it will rehydrate you, kickstart your metabolism and wake you up better than a cup of coffee.
Try using (safe, good quality) slimming pills
There are hundreds of weight loss pills and supplements out there but they were not all made equal. Don’t be fooled into buying diet pills just because they have a pretty bottle – they don’t usually have a pretty price tag, so be sure you’re not wasting your money on a bad quality product. There are many types of slimming pills, make sure you get the right ones. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this one without a doctor’s consultation beforehand though!
Brush your teeth as soon as you’ve had the last meal of the day
This one is actually a pretty clever trick and one I always stick to myself. Once you’ve gone to the effort of brushing, flossing and rinsing your mouth with mouthwash, you won’t want to snack on any naughty food because firstly it will taste awful! But secondly, it will mean you have to get up and do the whole saga again. No one wants to be doing that at bedtime when they are struggling to keep their eyes open, do they? Tip – you can paint your nails too if you’re feeling hungry, then you won’t want to grab a snack and ruin your mani!
I hope you enjoyed the post and learned something. Don’t feel like you need to shed the weight, especially if others are making you feel like you need to – do it for yourself!
Thanks for reading, as always <3
