If you looked at your monthly budget you’d probably be shocked at how much you’re spending on nights out. One option is to become a hermit and never go out again, but that’s no fun. Going out is an important part of college life, otherwise, you’ll drive yourself crazy just working constantly. So, how do you get the best of both worlds? Just follow these simple tips for nights out.
Discount Tickets
If you’re going to a concert or a sports event the tickets are going to be your biggest expense. That means that you’ll be spending a lot of money, even if you cut costs everywhere else. But you can still have a cheap night out and go to some great events by looking for discount tickets. Buying early is a good tip because ticket prices tend to shoot up when there are only a couple left. It’s also worth looking on sites like TicketOffices for great deals. They can find you discount tickets and even get you tickets for sold events in some cases. You’ll never have to pay full price again.
Don’t Drink
So many social events are based around drinking and the reason that you end up spending so much is because you’re buying drinks all night. The thing is, you don’t need to get drunk all night to have a good time. If you just drink soft drinks all night, you’ll spend half the amount of money that you normally would. Even if you just have a couple of drinks at the start and end of the night and switch to soft drinks in between, you’ll spend way less.
If you go out with all of your cards you’ll just spend money endlessly until you go home. But if you set a budget, you know exactly how much money you’re going to spend before you go out. Get the money in cash and leave all the cards at home, that way you’ll only spend what you can actually afford to spend, rather than waking up in the morning and checking your bank balance and getting a huge shock.
If you’re worried about carrying loads of cash around with you, why not look at prepaid cards? You can just load them up with the amount that you want to spend that night and leave everything else at home. That way you don’t have to worry about losing cash but you can still stick to a strict budget.
Don’t Buy Rounds
If you are drinking, you’re likely to be buying rounds all night. People often think that rounds end up cheaper because you’re only making a couple of trips to the bar each night. The thing is, when you’re buying rounds you’ll feel obliged to drink more than you normally would because it’s your round. If you’re buying your own drinks all night, you can stop whenever you like, or save money on soft drinks.
You don’t have to spend a fortune to have a good time! I hope you find these tips useful and will use them during your next outing 🙂
