Our skin is precious and delicate. It needs to be taken care of so that it can look its best. There are plenty of things that we should be doing to make sure that our skin looks at its best. There are plenty of things that we shouldn’t be doing too. Often we get mixed messages about what we should and shouldn’t do, so I’m here to set the record straight. So have a read through and see if there are any changes that you need to make to your skincare routine.
Avoid Hot Showers
So I do not mean avoid showers by this because that would be gross. I am talking about talking hot, hot showers. No one likes to take a cold shower, but a lukewarm shower is best for our skin. Hot showers can dry our skin out and even damage it. Our skin is gentle and delicate so hot water can be too harsh on it. This goes for hot water when washing our hands and face too.
What You Eat Affects Your Skin
The saying goes that you are what you eat. This is true in skincare too. If you want to have some gorgeous looking skin, you need to make sure that your diet is looking gorgeous too! ‘Eating a rainbow’ is a good place to start. Make sure that your plate is filled with fruit and vegetables. Try to avoid too many starchy vegetables like corn and peas, though. Refined carbohydrates are no good for your skin either. So avoid white bread and rice for example. Opt for the brown versions instead. Healthy fats from fish and avocados work amazingly on your skin as they help the skin repair. Wear Sunscreen. Even in Winter.
Yes, you read that right. Sunscreen needs to be worn all year round. The sun is hottest in summer and so the rays and stronger. We also have more skin exposed in summer, so we think that that is the only time that we need to use it. Not so! Use a sunscreen in winter too as it can still get damaged. Wear a sunscreen your face, neck, and hands, all year round. There is a great range of cruelty-free sunscreens that I like, at www.iherb.com/.
You Can Fight Wrinkles
Wrinkles come from when our skin ages and loses it’s elasticity. We can avoid these by hydrating your skin as much as we can. Drinking a lot of water will hydrate it from the inside. Using a cleanser and moisturizer will help to hydrate from the outside. Both are needed for a reduction in wrinkles. You could also practice giving yourself a facial massage. This can fight the signs of aging skin. Around your temples, forehead and around the eyes are the areas to focus on. Getting a regular facial can help too, if you don’t fancy trying it yourself.
