When the time comes for you to move to college, it can feel really intimidating. This is the moment that you’ve spent most of your educational life working up towards and now, you’re starting to feel a little bit scared. No matter how nervous you get, you can really get through everything with ease.
You want to be able to move to your new town and settle in with ease, right? So why not start now? There are things that you can do beforehand to make the transition period easier. So, while you’re enjoying your last summer before you head off, why not get a few things done and make your move all the more exciting.
Feel At Home
One of the scariest things about moving away to college can be the worry about moving to somewhere new. Not only do you have no idea what to expect from your new surroundings, but you’re also going to be away from your family home for perhaps the first time in your life. And the thought of that can be intimidating. But it doesn’t have to be. You can find out all about where you’re going to live before you get there. You can even find purpose built student accommodation, like Varsity Towers, that will instantly make you feel at home.
Stock Up
Now that you know where you’re going to be living, you’re also going to want to work on what you’re going to take with you. Before you head to college, there can be a range of things that you need to get together ready to pack up. Not only will you need supplies for school, but you’re also going to want to take clothes and toiletries, home comforts and even homewares to jazz up your new bedroom college. So, it’s time to stock up and then pack up. You’ll feel more prepared once it’s done.
Find Your Feet
If your college town is across the other side of the country or even somewhere quite close that you’re not familiar with, then you might feel like you have no idea what to expect when you move there. So, why not get acquainted with it before you move? You could head over and visit and explore the town early. You could even take your whole family and go on a vacation to help you all find your feet.
Book Up
When you’re used to be apart of a team, it can feel a little strange having to leave all that for pastures new. But, you can continue your love of sports or activities in college too. You can even do it before you leave. Take a look at the key college events that you’re school puts on throughout the year. You might be able to sign up in advance or find yourself a gathering to look forwards too.
Network
Sometimes, it can be the social side of thing that you’re worried about the most. If you and your friends are all going to different colleges, it can feel a little scary and like you need to start out again socially. But, you don’t have to deal with that dreaded feeling right up until you arrive. You can actually find friends before you get there. By networking before you leave, you’ll spot a few friendly faces in the crowd and feel a lot easier about moving away.
