Ever feel like you have WAY too many beauty products? We’ve all been there. The sheer amount of products on the market these days can be confusing, time consuming and above all else expensive. So with fall approaching, there has never been a better time to de-clutter your beauty regime. Embrace the fresh glow the cooler weather brings and try these tips for a minimalist fall makeup routine…
1) Ditch the foundation
If you’re still lucky enough to be sporting a tan from the summer weather, show it off! The fall’s cold wind will mean your natural rosy glow will come out, also saving you on blusher. If you’re not the tanning type or if you do just prefer a little more coverage, try a tinted moisturizer. This will protect your skin from drying out or getting chapped. The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Tinted Moisturiser is a great cruelty-free option.
2) Wear lip balm rather than lipsticks
Desperate to grab your favorite dark red matte lipstick as soon as the leaves change color? As tempting as it may be to delve into the depths of your make-up bag, lip balm can actually be the best option for your lips in the fall. Balm will stop your lips from chapping and a slight sheen can add to that fresh, dewy look (especially if you use a facial highlighter too). If you really can’t pull yourself away from lipsticks, opt for one with moisturising properties to ensure your lips don’t dry out.
3) Don’t forget the basics
A fresh, healthy look is essential for the fall – and oral hygiene is definitely one of the most important factors in this. If you feel like your smile is looking a little lacklustre, give whitening strips a try. They work out a lot cheaper than a trip to a cosmetic dentist and you can do it from the comfort of your own home too. Just make sure you pair the use of strips with a good brushing and flossing routine. For a cruelty free option for whitening your teeth – check out Snapwhite!
4) Go easy on the eye makeup
If you’re out and about for the day, make sure you take the weather into account when deciding on your eye makeup. Harsh, cold winds and rain can easily make your eyes stream, and lines of mascara running down your face isn’t the best look! If the weather looks like it could wreak havoc with your hard work, stick to a simple look of dewy cream eye shadow and a few lashings of mascara. Alongside some lightly filled in brows, this natural look is perfect for going back to school or college too.
5) Keep your hair weather-proof
There’s likely to be a lot more wet/damp weather in the fall, so it’s important to make sure your hair is prepared for the elements! More water in the atmosphere means greater humidity, especially if the summer sun is still peeping through the clouds. Try using a deep-conditioning treatment once a week so your hair doesn’t start to frizz the second you leave the house.
Hope you enjoyed the post! What’s your fall beauty routine? 🙂

I much rather just a lip tint/balm over lipstick anyday! It really does make a difference to your lips when you just take a break on lipstick
