Skin Troubles? Go Au Naturale

by

If you constantly have issues with your skin, then it is most likely a problem with your body reacting to substances that you put on your face, or in the atmosphere or that you are consuming on a daily basis. You might think that if you have bad skin, you’re just unlucky, but that’s not usually true. While some people do have medical issues that affect the look and feel of their skin, other people can correct their issues by changing their lifestyle. Let’s look at some examples of this and explore the changes you can make to vanquish skin issues for good.

Natural beauty

Admittedly, this is a daunting possibility and one that many people will certainly shy away from. However, saying goodbye to makeup could be the best choice for your skin. Makeup is often filled with chemicals and substances that are not natural. As such, they can be dangerous to your skin causing reactions. Makeup is also filled with oils that diminish the natural oils on your skin that gives you a beautiful complexion. Most people find that when they start to stop using makeup after a long period of time, their skin looks like a disaster zone. That’s just because you’ve damaged it over the years of using makeup repeatedly. Particularly, if you are one of those individuals who doesn’t bother to wash it off at the end of the day.

If you don’t want to stop using makeup completely, try using natural makeup products. These don’t contain chemicals or manmade materials and as such are better for your skin. Or try and reduce the level of makeup you use. Concealer and foundation should be avoided as much as possible as it clogs up your pores and doesn’t give your skin room to breathe.

A Natural Diet

You might think that you have genetically inherited your issues with acne and it’s true, you may well have. But, you could also be making it worse due to a bad diet. For instance, you could love your soda pops. As you know, these are filled with sugar and sugar causes your body to produce the hormone that makes your pores fill up with that white substance that results in spots. As such, by cutting back on levels of sugar, you can definitely improve the look and feel of your skin. You might also want to try drinking more water. This can help you clear out your skin and get rid of the dirt and grease in your pores.

You may also want to explore the possibility of an allergic reaction or intolerance to certain foods. An unknown allergy or intolerance can certainly cause skin issues like acne. Common culprits are milk, chocolate, and nuts. The best way to find out whether food is playing a part is with a food elimination test. That way, you can remove all the food you think might be causing the issue from your diet and add it back in gradually. By doing this, you might discover the real cause behind your bad skin. If in any doubt, cut processed food out and stick to an all natural diet. You should definitely see an improvement.

Natural Cleaning

You might also want to look at the cleaning products you use on your face and skin. For instance, you may be using one of the most soap brands. However, again this could be a mistake because it is, like makeup, often filled with chemicals. They’re great for keeping your skin clean, but they often have unwanted side effects such as causing dry skin. Instead, you should use cleaning products made of natural materials like goat milk soap. Exactly as it sounds, this product is made of goat milk, and it’s far better for your skin. You’ll find that it retains the moisture while getting rid of the dirt and grease. Of course, it’s not just about how you wash your face.

You need to think about your hair too. If you don’t have the long thick locks of a movie star, you’re probably using some form of shampoo to give your hair a volume boost and perhaps a conditioner. The problem is that these are often thick substances that quickly clog up your pores, giving you problems with your skin around your hairline. This can quickly spread to your forehead because obviously your hair falls across your head or rests on it when you sleep. It’s one of the reasons why some people go to sleep with clear skin and wake up with a full blown breakout. If you want to avoid this issue, try using vegetable oil in your hair instead. This really does work, and it’s far better for your skin.

I hope you enjoyed the post and that you found some of these tips helpful! Fight your acne breakouts and dry skin issues by keeping things totally natural 🙂

My Winter Skincare Routine

by

Hey lovelies! If you’ve been here for a while, you know how I suffer from dry skin, so I thought I would share with you the products I’ve been loving to keep it under control. These aren’t drugstore products, but they’re worth ordering online and paying a few extra bucks to get high quality cruelty free products!

MORNING ROUTINE

Tarte Deep Dive Cleansing Gel | $25

One of the things that’s most important for your skin is to clean it, but some cleansers can leave you feeling dry and make your skin conditions worse BUT this deep dive cleansing gel from Tarte is fabulous for dry skin. I’m so happy that they released the Rainforest of the Sea collection because the products from the line are pretty great. This cleanser removes stubborn waterproof makeup and deeply cleanses, while the skin loving ingredients replenish the skin to leave you with a brighter complexion! I love starting off my skin care regime with this.MyChelle Perfect C Serum | $44 (I got this full size version in a Love Goodly box!)

I feel like a lot of people are afraid to use serums but they can be really good for your skin. This serum is pricey, but a little bit goes a long way so it is worth it in my opinion. It helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, brighten the skin and protect from photo-damage. You only need to use one pump and I use the palms of my hands to press it into my skin and you can layer this with other serums, which is cool too.

Derma E Hydrating Day Creme | $30

I have to give this product a lot of props. I received this as a gift from Derma E to review, which you can read here and it’s something that I’m still using! I will definitely be repurchasing when I run out. It’s vegan and cruelty free and doesn’t irritate my skin like other moisturizers I’ve tried. After applying the vitamin C serum, I apply this. You don’t need a ton of product for your skin to feel hydrated. It also plumps the skin to help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, so when paired with the serum it kicks wrinkles’ butts. I highly recommend if you’re looking for a new moisturizer. It’s a little bit heavy at first, but soaks into the skin in minutes. I can’t live without it now, it’s that good.

NIGHTTIME ROUTINE

So, after my morning routine is done, I finish my day then it’s time to start my nighttime routine. I normally don’t wear foundation lately (just because I’m at work a lot, but as school comes around – I most likely will be), so it’s not necessary for me to do a deep cleanse like I do in the morning. I opt for the Alba Botanica Hawaiian 3-in-1 Wipes (which I can usually find at TJ Maxx or Marshalls for $4 a package) to use on my face. They remove makeup, cleanse the skin and act as a toner. I really like them because they leave my skin feeling clean and fresh without too much effort. I like to use the  e.l.f. Makeup Cleansing Cloths to remove my eye makeup because they’re gentle! For days that I do wear a full face of makeup though, I do use a liquid facial cleanser to make sure there’s no residue left on my skin.

Zabana Essentials Lavender Lemongrass Face + Body Tonic $13

I use this face and body tonic from Zabana when I feel like I need something, you know what I mean? I especially like to use this at night since the lavender is so calming and helps me relax. I spray this on and let it soak in before putting on my nighttime moisturizer.

Derma E Hydrating Night Cream | $30

Here we go with another product targeted to hydrating the skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles (I better not have a damn wrinkle for my whole life). Hyaluronic acid is my favorite and when I was using a gel moisturizer with HA being the main ingredient in it, I got so many compliments on my skin. It gives you a brighter and younger looking appearance and leaves your skin soooo soft. It’s a must have in my skin regime and I’d be lost without it. My skin looks so good the next morning and I love waking up feeling great.

Lanoliné Manuka Honey Eye Cream | $10-$12

I picked up this gem from Marshalls one night and I’m really glad I did. It’s formulated to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and hydrates the under eye area. I also like this because it helps to make me look more awake, since it has a plumping effect on the skin. I use this at night since I’ve discovered that it doesn’t sit well under makeup. You just need a little dip on your finger for both eyes so a little bit goes a long way.

EXTRAS

I didn’t know where to add this into the post, so I’ll just call it an extra! This is a “scrublet” (I guess that’s what you call it?) that I got in a set of two from TJ Maxx. I really like using this with the Deep Dive Cleansing Gel for a deeper clean. The little nubs help to knock out dirt from your pores and really get into all of the nooks & crannies of your face. They also act as a gentle exfoliator so your dry skin will vanish, woot wooot.

Derma E Purifying Daily Detox Scrub $15

I also didn’t know where to add this since it’s not something I use daily, but I do use it when I feel like I need something else and a good exfoliation. It has a really cool cooling effect on the skin and works really well. I feel like it gives me a radiant look after using it, so that’s another reason why I like it.

I think that’s pretty much all I use on a daily/semi-daily basis. What’s your favorite skincare product? Let me know in the comments! 🙂

I hope you enjoyed the post!

Pacifica Coconut Milk Shave Whip Review

by

coconutshavewhip2

Hey lovelies! Pacifica is always coming out with new items and I always have to purchase them since I have such great experiences with products from Pacifica.

I picked this shave whip in my most recent Pacifica haul and I’ve been using it quite frequently, so now it’s time to tell you why I love this stuff and how it’s transformed my shaving routine. These shave whips are exclusive to Ulta and are $14 each, but are worth it.

Their claims on this shave whip…

Pacifica’s rich cream shave whips give you a super close, moisturizing shave and prevent razor drag. They smell amazing and are fortified with natural extracts that love up your skin and help protect against irritation from ingrown hairs and razor bumps. For all skin types.

coconutshavewhipI got the coconut one because you guys know I’m coco for coconut, but they have a couple different scents if you don’t like coconut (but…how could you not?!)

So obviously this is different than “conventional” shaving creams, since it’s not a foam. It’s more of like a lotion consistency but it’s also not at the same time, you’ll just have to try it out to see what I mean! I also love the packaging. I’m a huge fan of blue, so if anything is blue – I probably already love it.

I was a little bit skeptical of their claims about razor drag (which I’m assuming is razor burn) because my skin is pretty much prone to it, but I was seriously surprised after using this shave whip.

I exfoliate my legs before shaving (which is totally optional), then after rinsing that off well I grab the shave whip and apply a small amount in circular motions like the package says – you really don’t need a lot. This also isn’t going to create a lather, so don’t keep rubbing it in aimlessly. I don’t wanna say that it leaves a “film” on your legs, because it doesn’t, but it does create a nice barrier between your legs and the razor that you use. I use small strokes against the hair growth and I rinse off my razor in between a couple of strokes.

It’s kind of amazing how well this stuff works. It doesn’t irritate my legs and really helps to protect my sensitive lil’ legs to awful razor burn. (I’m feeling my legs right now and they’re so incredibly smooth and soft). This shave whip also seems to moisturize your legs while it’s at it!

I seriously and highly recommend this for anyone who’s looking for a different shaving cream/cruelty free alternative because it rocks! I am so glad I found this product because I’ll never use anything else again – so I guess you can say that I swear by it.

I’ve used tons of different shaving creams and razors and I’ve even used coconut oil for shaving, but none of the past methods that I’ve used have created such a nice shave like this shave whip. My legs are so happy.

Have you tried Pacifica’s new shave whips yet? Do you want to? Let me know in the comments below 🙂

I hope you enjoyed the post and thanks for reading, as always! <3
