tarte’s Skin Squad Deluxe Discovery Set from Sephora

skinsquad skinsquad2Raeanne, back at it again with another tarte post. I literally love tarte and I have another post to do about their Swamp Queen palette too…someone please take my debit card away from me!

Anyways, I love deluxe samples and discovery sets/value sets. You get to try out different types of products, without spending a fortune AND you get enough to see if the product is something you’d actually like before splurging and buying the full size. I decided to pick up the skin squad discovery set from Sephora so I could try out a few more items from tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea collection and a few other items.

This set is $22, but it says that its a $68 value, so that’s pretty neato I guess. You also get 6 products, which you can get a decent amount of use from them. I was most excited to try the H2O hydrating boost, but I think I’m now excited to try them all.

Here’s a little bit of a closer look (I’m sorry for the horrid lighting, that’s what I get for taking pictures at 9pm.) So, you get a mascara, a tinted primer, a small blush, 0.24 ounces of the marine boosting mist, 0.25 ounces of the deep dive cleansing gel, and 0.33 ounces of the H2O hydrating boost.

So here’s the BB tinted treatment primer that has SPF 30 in it. I did get the set in the “light” shade but this primer is definitely too dark for me so I passed it along to my sister. I think it’s a great size for traveling, and you wouldn’t really need foundation since it has a tint to it. Plus the SPF in it is also a huge plus.

Here is the Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in the shade Oasis. It’s a beautiful pinky-nude and I think I would actually wear this color as a blush. It’s pigmented and can be built up if you want a bold cheek, or if you want a sheer cheek, you can accomplish that too. I think this color would be a good fit for many skin tones!

This is the Marine Boosting Mist. My sister has the full size, so I have used it before I got this. I absolutely love this stuff. It smells so GOOD. It has a citrus scent to it and it feels so refreshing on the face. It wakes you up and definitely revitalizes your skin and makeup. (Perfect size for travel too!)

This is the Deep Dive Cleansing Gel. I haven’t used this yet, but I am looking forward to using it in the future. It’s a hypoallergenic daily cleanser that removes makeup and impurities. It’s also fragrance free!

The H2O hydrating boost is amazing. It smells so great and refreshing and feels absolutely amazing on the skin. It soaks into the skin quickly and leaves your face feeling so smooth and moisturized. I will definitely be purchasing the full size. (I recommend that you do too! It’s awesome.)

And lastly, Lights, Camera Lashes! I haven’t tried a mascara from tarte before and this one looks quite cool. I love the textured packaging and the purple color is so cute. I love the way that the wand looks and I have a feeling it might be my second favorite mascara (after Better Than Sex) but I will obviously keep you updated!

What’s your favorite product from tarte? 🙂 Mine is definitely the Swamp Queen palette so far <3

Thanks so much for reading & I hope you enjoyed!

Petit Vour May 2016 Unboxing

2016-05-26 19.27.27

Hey lovelies! I just received my first Petit Vour box, full of cruelty free & vegan goodies, so I thought I would share it with you.

So, Petit Vour is $15/month (US) or $23/month (Canada) but you can cancel at anytime! You get 4 products (some are generous samples & some are even full sized). Kind of like ipsy, you get points for reviewing items, and making purchases.  Everything is non-toxic, cruelty free, vegan & ethically made…it’s honestly a no brainer. (PLUS, you even get 20% back as a store credit whenever you make a purchase with them).

Here’s a closer look at what I got in my box!

2016-05-26 19.28.322016-05-26 19.29.05

I think that the card this month was beautifully illustrated (as they are every month). I love how they tell you what you get, how much it costs if you wanted to purchase the full size, and how to use it.

This is the Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel. It’s supposed to exfoliate the skin to help even out texture and tone the skin. It also clears the skin while rejuvenating it with aloe, vitamins & antioxidants. I assumed that this was going to smell like sour green apple (a taste/smell that I hate) but was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t! The smell isn’t really describable, but it’s not foul. I am excited to try this out.

Captain Blankenship Mermaid Sea Salt Hair Spray

Okay, I’m SUPER excited to try this out. I used to love NYM’s sea salt spray, until I found out that it’s pretty toxic (through the Think Dirty app). I am trying to avoid products that are toxic and I’m leaning towards more green products. I love sea salt spray and the texture that it adds to my hair. It pretty much styles your hair effortlessly. I think the label on the bottle is super adorable and I can’t wait to feel like a mermaid when I use it!

Smart Ash Teeth Whitener & Detoxifer

I’m just going to assume that you’ve seen all of these charcoal DIY tutorials on YouTube lately (and if you haven’t there are quite a lot! Ranging from teeth whiteners, to face masks and I’m sure there’s a lot more…) So this is an all natural tooth whitening powder containing activated coconut shell charcoal, bentonite clay, organic orange peel extract, organic frankincense & organic mint extract. I do have some trouble (or insecurities I should say) about my teeth and their color, so I am super stoked to try this out, since I’ve heard that people have had good experiences and results. (Have you tried oil pulling? What are your experiences with that? Let me know!)

And last, but not least is this Ecco Bella Good For You Gloss in the color Peace (they also had the color Power, which is a red but I received Peace in my box). I like the packaging (even though some people might think the mirror is tacky or totally 90’s, but I don’t). It doesn’t smell like cupcakes/vanilla frosting like most glosses do, so I am pleased with that. It does have a lot of shimmer to it, and I can’t tell if I like that yet or not. The gloss isn’t too sticky (although I haven’t tried it on my lips yet, but I feel like I could incorporate it into some cool Aries zodiac look).

Overall, I was pretty pleased with my first Petit Vour box! I will be keeping my subscription for the month of June, but if I’m not too “wowed” by June, I probably will unsubscribe. (I’m definitely not unsubscribing because I didn’t like the products or the box, I think that this box is worth it, I just need to save money instead of spending it. I do enjoy subscription boxes though, since you get a little taste of multiple products, usually for a smaller cost of a full size version of one of the products in the box.)

Are you subscribed to Petit Vour? What did you get in your box this month? (If you aren’t, what did you get in your other monthly subscription box/bag? Let me know :)! )

Thanks so much for reading, I hope you have an awesome day!

Xo, Rae

Valentia Skin Detoxifying Mask Review (Sort Of) *

2016-05-22 19.48.00Hey everyone! I’m finally done with finals and moved back home so now I can hopefully focus more on my blog and YouTube channel! Sorry that it has been a while since consistently posting, but I hope you understand that I had to get my butt into action and finish the semester strong…ANYWAYS, enough chatting…let’s get into what today’s post is about.

If you’ve been around my blog for a while, you know that I have tried out some of Valentia’s products before. So, here I am with another review (sort of) of their Skin Detoxifying Mask. Let’s talk about it’s benefits first.

2016-05-22 19.48.37

This mask has:

Kaolin Clay: Clay minerals draw impurities, improve skin tone, and tighten pores for smoother firmer skin.

Plant Stem Cells: Naturally decreases the level of pro-aging toxins and works to soother the skin, reduce redness, and improve evenness.

Spirulina: A botanical stimulant full of vitamins that hydrates the skins surface and contributes to tissue regeneration of the skin.

CoQ10: Lessens the appearance of wrinkles by reducing free radical damage and stimulating health collagen production.

Hibiscus & Cranberry Fibers: Both lend their anti-aging properties to firm and reinforce the skin, helping to reduce the creation of new wrinkles.

2016-05-22 19.49.02

With all of these specially selected ingredients, it seems that this mask pretty much does it all! It draws out oil, dirt and other impurities, improves your skin tone and texture, plus leaves your skin feeling smooth and refreshed. There are a few long term results too that you can expect to see, such as smaller pores, firmer skin and clearer skin with less breakouts.

Now, to the review. I unfortunately was not really able to try this product out since my skin started to get a burning sensation after applying it. I DO have extremely sensitive skin, so I thought I would take it off and try again another day. It did the same thing so I decided to contact Valentia, and they told me that I must be allergic to one of the ingredients (which is possible, since I’ve never really use them before) and to stop using the mask. I really wish I could have tried it out for you guys. I must say that it does have a nice smell and the fibers (from the hibiscus and cranberry) really helped to gently exfoliate the skin as I applied it the two times.

I did want to stay honest with you all and even though I couldn’t use the mask, I wanted to tell you about my experience! Maybe this mask will be a better fit for you, if you’re looking for the benefits that this mask will help you achieve. Check them out on Instagram!

Thanks so much for reading and I hope you have an excellent day!

What’s your favorite type of mask? Mud mask, clay mask, sheet mask, etc? Let me know in the comments below!
